I’m an Associate Professor of Languages and Cultures at West Chester University of Pennsylvania (WCU), where I teach courses on Latin American film, cultural studies, and Spanish. I obtained a BA in Latin American Studies at the University of Puerto Rico. I have a PhD in Romance Languages and Literatures from Harvard University, and was a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in Caribbean Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. I direct the Graduate Program in Languages and Cultures at WCU and am Co-chair of the Greater Philadelphia Latin American Studies Consortium (GPLASC). My research is multimodal and focuses on cultural representations of inequality and violence in the Americas. I won the Leeway Foundation Art and Change Grant 2021 for my film Twin Tongues: Learning English in América, about the politics of bilingualism and identity in the Hispanic community of Philadelphia (in post-production).
